I got up, and got ready, spoke to my mate (the drummer), and arranged for him to pick me up.
I waited around, and got picked up again, and then we went around to pick up another mate (the guy who works at abc's sister's boyfriend), because he's sold his car.
We got over there, and the guy came out, his car was still there, apparently the people buying it were on their way over to make the final payment, and take the car.
While we were waiting, we were chatting, and the guy said that his gf had been called up this morning, by the marina, telling her that her parent's yacht had sunk over night.
Apparently a boat had sunk, all they could see was the top foot of the mast above the water, and they'd been able to account for all the boats except for that one.
They'd tried to call her parents, but they were in Melbourne of Adelaide at the moment.
(A few days later I heard that it actually wasn't their boat that had sunk, it was someone elses).
It started to rain a bit heavier, so we went inside the house to wait.
We sat in the computer room, and chatted for a minute, and then the people turned up.
They came in, and were planning to use internet banking to transfer the rest of the money across, they couldn't go to the bank, because it was Saturday, and Easter.
The guy jumped on my mate's computer, and when he tried to login to internet banking, he found that his account had been locked out.
He tried calling the support line, but as expected, it was closed.
That was the end of that, the people left again, saying they'd have to come back in a few days, next week, once the bank was open again.
We sat around for a few more minutes, and then decided to leave. On the way out the door, I had a quick look in the kitchen, and noticed a bit of fire damage over the stove.
Apparently a guy staying there, working with the other guy had put some chips on ("Ah the chips!") and then gone and had a shower while they cooked, lighting the cupboards on fire.
We went out, got in the car, and went over and picked up my mate's girlfriend.
From there, we all went over to our mate's place (the guitarist).
When we got there, he was just bumming around, and showed us that he'd snapped a string on his guitar again.
We all got organised, my mate (guitarist) and I got in his car, and the others got in the drummer's car, and we drove out to Erina to get some lunch.
They ended up in front of us, and when we got to the shopping centre, it was a nightmare, everyone was out at the shops. What the hell is going on? they couldn't go to the shops yesterday, because they were closed, and now everything that's in the shops is going to change?
Anyway, the others were lucky, and managed to find a parking spot, my mate and I ended up driving around for ages, every parking spot was taken.
We ended up down in the staff parking, it was full, we went into the maintainence vehicle parking, and it was full, with people parked all over the medians and footpaths.
There were even people parked in the gardens.
We gave up. I called our mate, and told him that we couldn't find a parking spot, and didn't know that we wanted to find one, since all the people from all these cars were obviously in the shopping centre, and most likely half of them in the food court at the moment.
We said we were going to the pub to get lunch, and they could do what they liked.
We went to the pub, parked, and went in, we ordered our food, and then I went to get a drink.
I ordered a screwdriver, and the chick behind the bar's like "What's a screwdriver?". Christ. I explained it, and she made it.
We went and sat down the back to wait for our food, and our mate turned up.
He'd left the other two at the shopping centre, they'd gone into the Chinese restaurant for Yum Cha or whatever.
I gave him $20, and told him to go and order himself some lunch, because it was his birthday, the least I can do is buy him lunch, and to get me a drink while he was there.
We got our food, and ate, before we finished he got his meal, and ate, when we'd finished eating, the three of us jumped in the 2 cars, and we all went across the road to the music shop.
My mate was leaving the others at the Chinese restaurant, they could find their own way home.
My mate bought new strings for his guitar, and while I was here, I figured I should get some strings, because the ones on the guitar are probably the stock ones it came with, and they're a bit crappy.
I bought a new set of strings, a set of "Blue Steels", $65, god damn, for 4 steel strings.
We left the music shop, and as we headed back to the car, my phone rang.
It was the guy that lives at Wyong, and fixes the computers, he wanted to know if I could come and install a motherboard in a case for him.
Why can't he learn to do that himself. I told him that I couldn't, because I was busy, and even if I wasn't, I had no way to get to Wyong, without a license (and I'll be stuffed if I'm going to walk 10 minutes to the station, get a train, and then walk to his place, all to do work for free).
I crapped on to him for a few minutes as I got in the car, and we started driving back to my mate's place.
The three of us got back to our mate's place, and I played a little bit, and then our mate (the drummer) went home, because he had to get changed to go to dinner and a party tonight, that we were all going to, for his birthday, and it was our mate who works at abc's sister's boyfriend's birthday tomorrow.
I ripped the strings off my bass, and started putting the new strings on, while my mate did the same to his guitar.
When I had the new strings on, the bass immediately sounded a lot better.
It still wasn't as good as the guitar I was playing at the music shop when I picked my amp, but that's understandable, considering the cheapest guitar they had was about $1000 worth.
Anyway, we started playing, and weren't doing too badly, it would have been nice to have the drummer though.
We started playing "Wipeout" by the Hoodoo Gurus, and then when we finished playing it, someone started banging on the front door.
Oh here we go, someone making a noise complaint about us. I'll let my mate go and answer the door, and deal with it, because I might just fly off the handle.
My mate went and answered the door, and immediately it was obvious that he wasn't arguing with someone about the noise, but I was having difficulty working out exactly what was going on.
Not long after, my mate came back in, along with a older lady. He told me that he called her "Nana Moon", and she'd been his next door neighbour at a house he'd lived at when he was little, and she'd stayed in touch with him and his dad.
She came in, said that she'd heard the music from the street, as she walked on her way from the Leagues Club home after a few drinks, to home, and decided to come and visit, since there was usually no one there.
She sat down, and we continued playing, saying that she loved hearing it.
My mate gave her the lyrics to "Wipeout", they were written on the guitar/bass tab sheet we had been looking at.
We had her sing the song, and we played, it was pretty funny.
After that we chatted a bit while playing the instruments at lower volume, and my mate's dad came home, and we chatted a bit, and my mate told him how "Nana Moon" had sung along.
We spent a bit more time there, and then we left, since we had to get to the party shortly.
We went to the service station, and while my mate was paying for the fuel, I went into the bottle shop next to the service station, and looked around.
I ended up buying a bottle of Riccadona, not finding anything much else worth getting.
As I was walking back to the car, my mate was heading to the bottle shop to get himself something to drink at the party.
I went and got back in the car, and waited for a few minutes for my mate.
He came back to the car, with a 6 pack or something, and then we left. He drove me back to home, and I came inside and grabbed my ipod and a 3.5mm/rca cable.
I jumped back in the car, and we drove to the place that my mate that works at abc's parent's live at, and his sister lives at, since that's where the party is, because his parents are out of state at the moment.
We got up there, and our mate, the drummer, was already here. We went in, sat around for a little while, and then we all piled in the drummer's car, and we drove to Gosford, to the Thai restaurant.
We started looking at the menu, we had to wait for the guy who works at abc, and the guy who's dad owns the aircon business.
We waited, and waited, and waited. We ordered starters while we waited.
I called them to find out what was going on, and they said they were on their way.
My mate who's wife left him called me, wanted to have a chat, about what was going on later tonight, I said I didn't know at this point, I was out at dinner, and I'd call him back later.
I sat around and waited a bit more. My mate who lives in Newcastle rang me about something, and I told him I'd have to call him back, because I was at dinner, (I didn't want to be rude, talking on the phone at the table, and I couldn't be bothered going outside, and I couldn't hear him anyway).
The others finally turned up, and we ordered our meals, and ate, spent about an hour in there.
When we finished eating, and paid, we went back to the cars. Someone went next door and bought a bag of ice, we loaded it into the boot of the car, and then we went back to the guy who works at abc's parent's place.
The guy who works at abc and the guy who's dad owns the aircon business went home again, very social of them.
We got back there, and had a few drinks.
I called back my mate (whose wife left him) and told him that we were just hanging around up here tonight, but that the others (who had been at dinner with us, and gone home) were probably going to the club.
I tried to call my mate from Newcastle, but there was no answer on his phone.
I put my ipod into the stereo, and we listened to that, until the battery ran out, and then my mate who works at abc's sister used hers.
Someone had a disposable camera, which got used taking a whole stack of stupid pictures.
About 3am we decided to watch a movie, and someone put A Clockwork Orange on, which we watched about 15 minutes of, and then my mate who works at abc's sister went to bed, not wanting to watch it.
We turned it off not long after that, and put The Goodies on, watched an episode of that, and then I was falling asleep, so I went and lay down, it was about 4am.
