Let's see, the second day home.
I got up late again, like yesterday, probably 11am or so.
I jumped on the computer, and went through more email.
My mate who plays the drums called me, asked what I was doing, nothing, and if I wanted to go and get some lunch, I said that sounded good, and he'd come to pick me up.
My hair was looking pretty awful, another few days and washes after the chick in Woolies comment that it looked like an old tennis ball.
I dug around in the cupboard under the sink, I think there's still a bit of green dye left from the last time I did this (hence my blog picture), but that was ages ago, this stuff is probably dead, oh well, I suppose it will just wash out and not do anything if it is.
I used it to recolour my hair, and it didn't do too bad of a job, not as good as when the stuff isn't several years old though.
I had a shower, and got ready, and then my mate turned up a little bit later. We're going to see Mark Knopfler at the Entertainment Centre tonight, and I'm not sure what I'm doing for the rest of the day, so I took the tickets with me, in case I didn't end up getting back here before going down to the city.
I jumped in the car, and we went out to the Woodport at Erina for some lunch. I had a steak I think, and it was pretty good, and a couple of drinks.
While I was at lunch, the project manager from work called me, he wanted to find out what was going on, and I was saying that I was going to take the rest of the week off, and I'd start back next week, and I'd have to get the train up there or something, and he offered to give me a lift up on Monday morning, so I gave him my address, and sorted all that out.
We spent about an hour there, and then decided to go and wander around the shops at Erina Fair, so we jumped back in the car, and went there.
We wandered around the shops pretty aimlessly. I went to the discount beauty products place, where the hairdressers had gone to get the dye they'd used on my hair, and I bought a new bottle of it, to keep retouching my hair until it grows out a bit, and I get sick of it (or have to go to court).
There's a bunch of cool colours they do, I might do a bright blue next time.
I got that, and kept wandering, we went into Sanity or some other place that sells DVDs, they had a special on, and I got a couple of Cheech and Chong movies for about $5 each.
We went over to JB Hifi after that, and wandered around, I think this is when I bought a Bowie in concert DVD, and perhaps a couple of others, but I can't remember, and my notes about this day are pretty piss poor.
We went back to the car, and headed for home, on the way, we decided to stop at the Leagues Club. I got a letter a couple of weeks ago that my card was going to expire, and my mate wanted to join so that he can get in when he's pissed, since he won't have to sign in, and that was where they picked up that he was pissed and wouldn't let him in last time.
We went in, I renewed my card, they just reissued last years photo, and my mate joined and got his card, because he's over 30, he didn't have to have a photo on his card.
My mate dropped me off at home, when I got back I lent him my Best of Bowie DVD that we'd been talking about while we were out, that he wanted to see.
I sat and watched the Bowie in concert DVD I'd bought, and did a bit of blogging.
I went through some more email after that (I'm still trying to catch up on stuff that came in during the time I was away).
At about 5.10pm, my mate came back, and picked me up.
We went around to our other mate's place, the guy who plays lead guitar. He wasn't home, was still at work or something, so my mate parked his car at his place, and then the 2 of us walked down to the Leagues Club.
We sat in here, had a couple of drinks, I put some money in the jukebox and queued up a few songs. A couple of songs in, some guy came over and asked if we'd put them on, and then commented that we had good taste in music.
I was a bit hungry, so I got a packet of chips from the vending machine, my mate got some too, he started eating his, and said they were stale.
Certainly looked stale, you could squash them, they weren't crunchy at all.
I told him to complain at the bar, perhaps they'll get him another packet out of the machine or something, or just tell him to go away at worst, but he couldn't be bothered, so he just left them.
We sat in here until our songs finished, and then someone came along and put some crap songs on, so we left, and walked back to our mate's place, he should be nearly home by now.
We got back there, and he was home, we went in, waited around for a bit while he got ready. His dad was there, and said that he'd been there the whole time, so we could have come in earlier. Oh well, I wanted a couple of drinks, and didn't want to rock up and drink someone elses beer (or drink beer for that matter).
It was now about 6pm, our mate finished getting ready, and we all (drummer, lead guitarist, his dad, and me) went and jumped in the car, and headed for the city.
We got to the end of the freeway, and started down the highway, ah, the old drag I used to do every single day to get to work.
Those drinks in the club were getting to me, I need to relieve myself. I asked my mate to stop in the next service station, he did, and both my mate I'd been with at the club earlier and I jumped out of the car to go, and found the toilets out of order. Oh god no.
We looked around, but there was no where else to go, so we got back in the car, and asked our mate to stop at the next service station.
We went into the next service station, and their toilets were closed for cleaning. What the hell is this? Again, there was no where else to go, so we got back in the car to try again. I was in a bit of pain by this point.
We got to the third service station, and my mate and I jumped out, and this time found the toilets out of order again.
I give up. This service station had an area where we could get around behind it, so my mate and I climbed over the little fence, made our way around behind the service station, and relieved ourselves.
We jumped back in the car, and continued heading for the city. We got into the city, and went into the parking station we use when we stay in the Travelodge (haven't done that for ages).
We walked from there down to the Entertainment Centre, and got down there about 8pm. The show is supposed to be starting now, and there's no opening act, just Knopfler.
We headed up near the door we were supposed to enter at, grabbed a few drinks at the bar. I was starving, had hoped to get some dinner, but had to make do with a packet of chips from the bar.
We sat at a table ear the bar, drank our drinks, I ate my chips, and then we headed in, now that the majority of people trying to get in had got in.
I went over, showed the tickets at the door, and the usher showed us to our seats, it was now about 8.10pm, and just as we were getting to our seats, the show started. That's pretty good timing.
Everything about this concert was good, the seats were good, it was a good view of the stage, straight on, instead of being over at the side, the audio was good, it was clear, loud, and properly mixed.
Mark was playing excellently.
I don't remember all the songs they did, but all the ones I came to hear were done, Money for Nothing, Sultans of Swing, Telegraph Road, I think he did Walk of Life, So Far Away.
About halfway through the show, I had to go to the loo, so I went out, relieved myself, and on the way back in, I went to the bar, and bought drinks for all of us, beers, except for my mate who was driving, so I got a bottle of water for him.
I went back in, gave them their drinks, and watched the rest of the show. There was only one encore, we'd hoped for another, but he didn't come back out, he'd done all the songs I wanted to hear anyway, so I was very happy.
It ended at 10.30pm, which I thought was pretty good, to have had Mark out playing for nearly 2 1/2 hours.
We left, walked back to the parking station, and paid for the parking, this was a total bargain.. $8. I don't know how we managed that.
We went back to the car, jumped in, and headed for home, my mate drove us back to his place.
I'm not sure what time we got home, probably around midnight, we hung around here until 12.30am, and then my mate who picked me up dropped me off at home.
I went to bed not long after getting home.
I found a setlist for the concert:
Why Aye Man
Walk of Life
What it is
Sailing to Philadelphia
Romeo & Juliet
Sultans of Swing
Done with Bonaparte
The Trawlerman's Song
Song for Sonny Liston
Donegan's Gone
Rudiger
Speedway at Nazareth
Boom, Like That
Telegraph Road
Brothers in Arms
Money for Nothing
So Far Away
The Mist Covered Mountains/Wild Theme
It came from here, looking at that page, almost every concert was the same, that's a bit boring.
