I got up at 7.40am, after that hideous night's sleep. I felt pretty tired.

I had a shower, got ready, had breakfast etc, and then went to work.

I sat and worked on code, and then I got really cold again, because the stupid airconditioning is set far too cold, and the duct is above my desk.

I went upstairs, to get away from it, and try to worm up a bit.

The guys had just gone for coffee, and I was so cold, I went across the road, and got a nasty coffee, and then came back to the building.

I stayed up here and had a chat for a while, and then we decided to go for lunch.

I went and got in the car with the a couple of people from work, and we drove down to the Grand Junction, to follow up on the house we'd looked at the other night.

We went in, but the woman who owns the place wasn't there. The guy left his details with the bartender lady, she said she'd give them to her Mum (the woman who owns the place) later.

We went and had another look at the outside of the house, and then we drove around to the leauges club, because a support lady who took a redundancy when the department relocated was up visiting, and they'd all gone there for lunch.

We went in, and up to the restaurant in the leagues club. The food in here is pretty crap, especially for $12 for all you can eat, when about 1/2 plate is all you can eat.

The guy from work didn't want anything to eat (I don't blame him), because the food is crap, and the woman on the door wouldn't let him come in, because she reckoned he was just trying to get out of paying, and would eat anyway, off someone elses plate or whatever.

He had to argue with her for several minutes, that he did not want to eat any of the food, and was not going to eat any of the food, and she eventually said that he could come in, but that he would be thrown out if he was seen eating anything.

Jesus. He went in, and then I paid, and the woman started on at me, about how she had to go through that, or people would be tempted to eat anyway.

Somehow I doubt that, if someone wants to eat, they're going to pay. (Even after paying, I still almost have to make myself eat the food).

I had a few plates of food, it was pretty crap as I expected. The support woman was right up the other end of the table, when I'd finished eating, I went up and sat and spoke to her for a bit.

A few people were going back to work, so I left, and went and jumped in the car, and got driven back to the office.

On the way through the carpark, we stopped and looked through all the old pcs, someone was doing an asset check the other day, and a Dell server was missing, so we had a quick look to see if it was there.

It wasn't, but while I was looking, I spotted a shoebox with a couple of mobile phones in it, a stack of data cables, a few chargers, and a couple of phone cradle things.

I needed a charger, because I'd forgotten to bring mine up with me, and my phone was running low, so I took the box with me inside.

I found a charger suitable for my phone in the box, and put my phone on to charge.

I spent a little while updating the report query code in the system I'm wirting, and then was called up by the guy upstairs, because one of the production systems was broken.

I went up and had a look, managed to find something that I thought could have been the problem, and left him dealing with that, and then I went back to my desk, and continued working.

I'd been there for about 5 minutes, and then the evacuation alarm started going off in the building.

What on earth? We all went outside, and wandered across to the "evacuation area", aka the barbeque.

We stood around out here for a while, not knowing what was going on, but we could hear some sirens, and the fire brigade turned up.

We continued standing around, people just chatting, and wasting time. If I'd brought my stuff with me, I would have just left, and gone to the pub, a few people had been organised enough to bring their stuff, and they left.

Eventually the director of the department came out, and told us that there was something going on, the fire brigade were checking it out, and we had to wait for them to give the all clear.

He congratulated us on leaving the building in such a fast and organised manner however.

A few minutes later we were told that we could go back in the building, and we all filed back in.

We heard a bit later, that someone (some cleaner or maintainence person) had been mucking around in the lift shaft plant room, and had caused some smoke, and it had set the fire alarm off.

I did a bit more work, and then the guy from upstairs came down to see what I was doing. I finished up my work, and then we left, giving a guy a lift to the station, because he's going home, and had a big bag.

We went back to the pub where we were staying and parked the car, and then went to the other pub, where we start drinking.

The librarian was there, so we sat and spoke to him for a while, and had a couple of drinks, and then we moved across to the other pub, where we were staying.

We found another guy from work in here, and had a couple of drinks with him, and then we all went down to the club we'd been at last night, playing pool and listening to the jukebox.

We got down there, and got more drinks, and chatted for a while, and then I went in and played to pokies for a while, wasting a few dollars.

I came out, and the others were ordering dinner, so I ordered some, and then we chatted and drank while we waited for our food, and then ate the food once it was served.

We had another couple of drinks, and then we all left the pub, at about 9.30pm, and walked back where we were staying.

I sat and watched the tv for a little while, and then we all ended up out on the balcony chatting, and went to bed at 10.30pm.

I was lying in bed, and got an SMS from my mate, the drummer, something about The Who, at 11pm.

I managed to get to sleep fairly easily for once, probably because I felt like I hadn't slept for 3 days.
