I got up early, which was strange, since I got back late last night, and had been pretty pissed.
I was in the bathroom when I heard the phone ring, damn, everytime I get in here.
When I came out, I found my phone, and called back my mate (the drummer), he wanted to go into the city today, go to a couple of music shops, and go and see an exhibition of Beatles art.
I said it sounded pretty good, got off the phone.
I had a shower and got ready, had some breakfast etc, and then my mate turned up.
I grabbed a Blue Oyster Cult CD, and went and jumped in the car, we drove down to Hornsby, getting off at the second last exit on the freeway, and going the back way into Hornsby, which took ages.
We went into the Westfield car park, parked, and then walked across the road to the railway station. It's cheaper and easier to park here, and get a train into the city, than trying to find parking in the city.
While we waited on the station, I was pretty hungry, so I had a packet of chips from the vending machine on the station, but either it was always out of the sun, or the machine was refridgerated, because the chips were freezing, gross.
The train eventually turned up, and my mate and I got on, and rode it in to Town Hall.
We came out of the station, and I went to the Coles Express lunch bar thing, and got a bottle of water, while he got some money out of an ATM.
We walked up to the street, and across the road, and went into Utopia records.
We spent about 45 minutes in here, browsing through all the stuff, there wasn't anything terrific in here, nothing that grabbed my fancy.
We left there, and then tried to work out what we wanted to have for lunch.
We wandered right through the Queen Victoria Building, looking for something for lunch, but we couldn't find anything that we wanted, so we ended up going back to the KFC we'd gone past between the record shop and QVB.
We ordered our food, and sat and ate in there, and then we left, and started looking for the Beatles exhibition.
We looked around, my mate had some idea of where it was, but we couldn't find it.
We went to an information booth, and asked them, and they were able to tell us where it was, we then found it.
We walked down there, and went in. We paid our $10 admission, were given programmes, or guides, or something, basically explaining each of the pictures on display.
We started looking at the pictures, all sorts of candid photos, posed photos, stills from Yellow Submarine.
There was about 100 pictures on display, as well as a few pictures of the Rolling Stones, and a few of Elvis. I don't know why they would have Elvis photos in a Beatles exhibition, I thought the 2 were mutually exclusive, and you can only like one or the other.
We spent a bit over and hour looking at all the photos, and then we left.
We left the exhibition, and walked up the road to Red Eye records, we browsed around in there for quite a while, there was stack of good stuff, but it was all so expensive.
I ended up buying a couple of DVDs, Rush in Rio, a live concert, and a They Might Be Giants DVD, with a whole bunch of their video clips on it.
We decided to go home at this point, to avoid the afternoon rush of commuters trying to get out of the city, so we walked towards Wynyard station, I stopped into a convenience store and got a chocolate bar, and then kept walking.
We got on to Wynyard station, and waited for the train, it was late, what else is new.
While we were waiting, I started looking around, and saw a chick waiting on the station, wearing a pink thong, this was obvious because she had the sides of it pulled up so far above her pants, oh well, she had the body for it.
Eventually the train turned up, and my mate and I got on, found seats. We rode it back to Hornsby, and then got off, and walked across the road, back to the Westfield car park.
We headed for the exit of the carpark, paid $10 for parking, so I gave my mate $5, and then we left.
I put on my Blue Oyster Cult CD, and we headed for the freeway. We got on the freeway, and then it started to rain, and the freeway got slower, and slowr, and slower, and we ended up completely stopping. Great, I wonder what's going on, if it's just the usual phantom traffic jam, that makes everyone else down, even though there's nothing there, or if there's actually been a prang.
We started moving again, and sped up, and kept going, not terribly fast, but moving anyway, and eventually got back up to full speed, but there was nothing, no prang, just one of those dumb slow downs.
My mate wanted to go to the bottleshop on the way home, asked if I wanted anything. I said I had grog, but wouldn't mind going to the supermarket for something for dinner, so we went to bilo, and he went and bought grog, and I got dinner.
My mate dropped me off at home, I just sat around for a while, on the computer, watched tv etc.
I cooked dinner, and then ate it, watched more tv.
I did some blogging, while watching tv.
I went to do something on the computer, with some sound files, and realised that some of the stuff I've downloaded recently is missing. I must have lost it when the disk went wobbly, and I had to recover everything. It must still be on the old disk.
I mucked around with the machine, pulling the SATA controller out, and putting the disk with the trashed partition table back in, I ran Stellar Phoenix across it again, and found the missing files, in a directory named "New Folder" for some reason, explaining why I didn't recover it before.
I rescued those files, put the machine back how it was before, with the SATA controller in etc, and then I went to bed.
