I woke up, at 6am, to the alarm going off. I lay in bed for a bit, listening to the radio.
In the news they said that Paul Hester, the drummer from Crowded House had died, he'd hung himself in a park near his house over the weekend.
That's pretty sad.
I got an SMS from the guy from work who was giving me a lift, he was running 45 minutes late, so I lay in, and I got up at 7am.
I got ready, had some breakfast, and finishing packing bag, with my toiletries stuff etc.
I got another call from the guy, he was coming down Kariong hill, so he'd be at my place in a little while.
I waited, he turned up, I went and got in the car.
He was giving another guy from work a lift to work this morning, so I jumped in the back.
As we left, the guy put some music on, a Crowded House CD. I asked if he'd heard about Paul Hester, he said he had heard.
We got on the freeway, and headed to work. Nothing eventful happened on the way to work.
When we got to work, I sent an email to a solicitor on the TiVo mailing list, asking for a bit of advice about my unlicensed driving charge.
I spent the rest of the morning coding, and then I went up to see the guy upstairs, and find out about going to lunch.
He wasn't there, so I sat and talked to the email guy, he was showing me the web based email account he had, and I asked why he didn't use gmail or something, with 1gb for free (now 2gb apparently).
We went to gmail, not that it's linked to anywhere on the google site (seems strange), and then couldn't find anywhere to sign up. Gees, I thought it was public by now.
I told him I had a few invites, so I'd send him one.
The guy I'd gone to talk to came back from wherever, and we went down the road to get some lunch.
On the way down there, we saw another guy from work, and chatted to him for a minute.
On the way back from lunch, it started raining. Annoying.
I tried to go to the music shop again, to see if they had any acoustic bass guitars, but they were closed again.
There was a note on the door, I went up and read it, apparently they were closed because the owner had died of cancer, and there would be new people running it from next week.
I walked back to work.
I was doing some work, and I remembered about the registered mail in QLD, my mate's ex gf's brother hadn't called me back over the weekend, and I'd forgotten about it.
I called up Australia Post, to see if I could arrange to get the mail redirected to the post office down here.
I called them up, and spent 10 minutes getting through the hideous menu system, only to get to a point where it said "we are unable to take your call at this time, please call again later", and then hung up on me. ARGH!
I looked on the website again, and found where I could send them an email, so I did that, asking what the procedure was for getting registered mail redirected.
I went back to work after that.
The guy from upstairs came down at about 4.20pm, and told me he was going to Newcastle, taking another guy to pick up his car or something, and wanted to know if I wanted to go wih them.
I was busy, in the middle of something, so I said I'd stay at work, and catch up with him later.
About 6pm, I called to find out where he was, and he was on his way back to Maitland, so I said I'd stay at work and wait.
I ended up staying at work until 6.40pm, when the guy called me, and then I left, and went and jumped in the car.
We went over to a chick from work's place, and chatted to her for a little while, and then we had to go to another woman's place, because the guy that got a lift to work is staying there, and his bag was still in the car.
Meanwhile, the guy from work who'd gone and got his car from Newcastle went over to the sex shop at Thornton. A couple of people at work were going to get something to send to the chick who left (and had the accident), as a joke, but didn't end up getting anything, because it was all too expensive.
We left the woman's place, and we drove back to the pub where we were staying, checked in, and then went and dumped our stuff in the room.
We came back down from there, and ended up sitting in the bar for a little while, watching the news on tv, and chatting with a guy who's leaving in a couple of weeks.
The guy who went to the adult shop came back, and then the 3 of us went down to the Grand Junction hotel to get some dinner.
While we were sitting there eating, in the beer garden at the back, there was some really gross guy that kept coming in and out of the bar to go to the toilets, and in between he'd hock things up, and spit them on the plants.
On one trip, he actually blew his nose on to the plants. Disgusting.
When we'd finished eating, we left that pub, and went to the other one, where the bartender used to be a Newcastle Knight, and we had a couple of games of pool, and a few drinks.
The guy who'd gone to get his car wanted to watch the soccer match that's on tonight, so he left, and went back to the pub we were all staying in.
We sat around a bit more, having another drink, and then we left too, and walked back to the pub we were staying at.
A couple of guys from work were sitting watching the soccer.
I didn't really want to go to bed, so I sat and watched it too.
The guy I'd stayed drinking with didn't last long watching it, and went to bed.
It was 2 - 0 for ages (our way), so the guy who'd got his car figured it was a foregone conclusion, and went to bed.
A few minutes later the other guy went off too, just leaving me sitting watching it.
We scored another goal.
While I was waiting for the end (only about 10 minutes to go) a guy from the bar came up, I spoke to him for a second, and then he checked the fridge and cupboards, that there was enough stuff for breakfast, and went back downstairs.
When the match finished, 3 - 0 our way, I went to bed, it was about 11pm.
