Hmm, I'm having a great day so far.
I got up a bit after 11, went to turn on the noisy ass computer to check my email.. it won't boot up. no beeps, no video, nothing.
Hmm, it's done this before.
I pulled all the cards out, unplugged the drives, pulled out all except 1 memory stick.. this should work. Nope. reseated the CPU, tried 2 different video cards, tried different memory in different slots.
Nothing. Dead as. Great.
The motherboard must have failed, I can't think of anything else, if the CPU had failed, the machine wouldn't turn on when I try to boot it.
I just found the receipt for this board (and the CPU) I bought them on the 9th December 2000. $248 for this board, and $335 for the CPU. I got a bit over 3 years out of it I suppose, and somehow I think it'll be out of warranty. I've just sent an email to Abit to check though, I would hate to think I missed out on getting the board replaced.
Ok, I guess I'll have to fix my other PC with the dodgy CDrom in it, which normally would not matter, but because I'm so lazy, I never bothered to fix it when Windows corrupted its registry, and I've been running off a Knoppix bootable linux CD for ages.
So much for getting the bits for those season interfaces, I haven't got a machine to attach it to, can't get to the software I need, and now haven't got the money to spend.
