I woke up at 8.30am, I don't know why, considering I'd only gone to bed 4 hours before.
I lay there, thinking about getting up. I could hear people rattling around in the kitchen.
I'd left the door open, my mate's wife stuck her head in, and I said I was getting up in a minute, and then I sort of fell back asleep again.
I woke up again at 9.30am, I lay there a bit more, and then fell sleep again, woke again at 10.30am, and just lay there, and finally actually got up about 11am.
I felt really seedy. I wonder why.
My mate was up, he came and brought me a glass of water, I said I needed some Panadol, and that I had some in my bike. I sat there for a minute, and then I staggered out to my bike, got the Panadol, went back inside, took some, and sat down for a bit.
All the others were ready to go to the beach, my mate wasn't, so he said that we'd get ready and go down there in a bit, so they all left, and it was just my mate and left there.
We sat out on the front verandah for a while, my mate read his book, and I just sat there and felt seedy.
I decided to go and have a shower, that usually makes me feel better when I'm a bit hungover. I went in, grabbed some clean clothes and my toiletries bag, and went down the back to the garage, to have a shower.
On my way between the house and the garage, I went out the back door to the verandah where we'd been sitting all night drinking, the bottle was still on the table, and there was only about 1/6th of the bottle left. Bloody hell, we nearly drank a whole 750mL bottle of rum in about 5 hours.
I got in there, and while getting ready to have a shower, I felt really really seedy, and I spewed, there was bugger all there, just like bile or something. Yuck.
I had a shower, and then I felt a bit better after that, and I put on some clean clothes, and went out to sit back on the front verandah with my mate again, we decided to get ready to go to the beach, so I went in, and put my board shorts on.
I was just sitting around waiting for my mate to get ready, I saw a copy of "Chicken Soup for the Soul", so I started reading that, to pass the time, when all the others arrived back from the beach. Oh well.
They'd taken the big surf board down there, and said it was a waste of time, it was flat as, no waves at all. The tide was supposed to come back in in a few hours, 5pm or someting, so we'd all go back down there again then.
I just sat around a bit more, my mate's wife and mother in law said they were going to the shops, to get stuff for lunch, and did we want anything, and then they left.
We decided to setup the computer we'd brought up for them, which my mate and I had unpacked on the verandah last night, my mate's stepfather in law commented on us leaving it on the front verandah, gees, I don't think it's going to go anywhere, we're out in the middle of canefields, and we only put it there at 4am this morning.
Anyway, we ripped all the old stuff off the desk, and out of the way, and then we unpacked all the boxes, and set it all up. My mate's stepfather in law started talking to me because the F1 was on tv, so I went out to speak to him, I'm sure the others can work out how to setup the computer.
Once they'd got it all unpacked, I went in, checked it was all plugged in properly, and then we booted it up. I installed the printer driver, and did another bit of fiddling that had to be done.
My mate's wife and mother in law came back from the shops, so we left it after that, and had lunch.
They'd got a couple of bbq chickens, so we made up sandwiches, and then went and sat outside and ate them. Eating something made me feel a bit better, because I was still feeling pretty crook from last night.
After one sandwich, I was feeling quite good, so I went and made another, but after eating that, I regretted it, I was back feeling seedy again.
It was getting really hot. I don't think I could live up here, it's just too hot for me. I decided to go back inside, where it was slightly cooler.
I went in with my mate's brother in law, and we finished setting up the computer, configuring the internet connection etc. Once that was done, I dialled up the internet, and checked my email.
I think there were about 50 new emails, because I hadn't been able to check them since about 6pm Friday night, it's been nearly 2 days. I went through them all, and then I decided to download itunes, so that my mate could put some more music into his ipod.
I started off the download, it was going to take a couple of hours, and then I got off the computer, because my mate's brother in law wanted to use it.
I went back out to the loungeroom, gees, it was hot in here now. I watched the tv for a bit, and they started talking about going back down the beach, so I grabbed my stuff, just shoes basically, and we loaded up the surfboard into the car again, and got ready to go back to the beach.
My mates brother in law was going on about the computer, and we said to just leave it on (since it was still downloading itunes), and then we jumped in 2 cars, since there was 6 of us, and an 8 foot surfboard.
We drove to the beach, only about 5 minutes away, parked, grabbed the stuff, and headed down to the beach.
I went straight into the surf, to try to cool down. The first thing I noticed, on the way in, is that the really shallow bit as you go in, isn't cold here. I don't think I've ever been able to walk into the surf before, and not have that little bit of cold while it gets to your knees.
After about 10 minutes in there, I was feeling about a million times better. Gees, I wish I'd come down here this morning.
We all went in the surf, and took turns having a go on the surfboard. The surf was pretty flat, you'd get a wave come through every now and then, but they had no push, so you'd try and get up on it, but just get left behind.
We spent about an hour or so down the beach, and then we drove back home again.
I went in to check the computer, and found that the itunes download had crapped out at about 80%, 20 something meg, nothing I did would make it start again, crud, I'll download it again later.
I sat around for a bit, because the others were having showers. I had to wait a bit longer, because my mate's wife was in the one down the back, and all my stuff was in there, once she came out, I went down the back, and had a shower, and got dressed again.
We started getting stuff ready for dinner. I cleared away the stuff from out the back, noticed my shoes still out here from where I'd taken them off last night.
My mate said something about getting some music going, and I said we could use our ipods, we need some speakers, then my mate said we had the subwoofer/speaker set we'd brought up to go with the computer.. brilliant idea, since it'll have a 3.5mm plug on it too.
We asked someone to find an extension cord to run out the back, and then my mate and I went in and unplugged the speakers from the computer, grabbed them, and went back out.
We asked about the extension cord again, my mate's brother in law had found one, plugged it in, and run it out the back door.
We plonked the speakers down, plugged them in, I went and got my ipod, and plugged it in, and started it up, it sounded better than I'd expected.
We left that going, and a little while later the dinner was ready.
I don't remember what it was that we had, but once we'd finished eating, we started drinking again.
I think we started on Scotch and cokes, and then a whole bunch of different wines were coming out, I think between the 5 of us, we went through 6 or 7 bottles of wine, and then I polished off the bottle of Scotch.
While were drinking, since it took us a few hours, we sat there listening to music. My mate had gone and got his ipod, and had a bunch of comedy mp3s on it, so we listened to them, most from the Bob and Tom show.
One of the songs he had was "Yeah Toast!", which is basically just a guy singing about toast, but it's really funny, and we were all laughing pretty hard at that, so I think we listened to that 3 or 4 times during the night.
After we'd gone through all the comedy stuff, we went back to listening to music, and chatting.
About 10.30pm, my mate realised that he needed smokes, so we went and jumped in the car to go and get some (he hadn't been drinking all that much, only a few drinks in the last few hours). It's a long way to the service station.. about a 15 minute drive.
On the way, we spotted some cane toads on the road, so my mate was aiming for and running over them, that was pretty funny.
We got to the service station, and went in, my mate got some smokes. There was some really sus looking guy hanging around in there, but he just started chatting to us.
The whole situation seemed pretty cool, I'm standing here in shorts and a t-shirt, not wearing any shoes, with a big green mohawk, and some rough looking guy just starts talking to me like he's known me for ages.
Anyway, we finished chatting to the guy, my mate had his smokes, we jumped back in the car, and drove back to the house, running over a few cane toads on the way.
A couple of times my mate missed, so we'd stop, and back up, and run over them, or do a u turn, and go back and over them, for the ones we reversed over, I opened the door and hung out, directing my mate to make sure we got them.
We got back to the house, and decided to have a bit more fun with the toads. Everyone else had gone to bed, since it had got a bit late now, and it was Sunday night, and they had to work tomorrow.
They keep an old pitching wedge on the front verandah, for dealing with cane toads, we grabbed that, and then my mate and I went wandering around the streets for a bit with it, pelting all the toads that we saw.
I was pretty good at spotting them, even if I do say so myself, too bad my golf skills are so poor, that while trying to avoid smashing the club onto the road, I'd be too high, and swoop over the top of the toads, or just give them a tiny tap.
I think we spent about 45 minutes out here, just wandering up near the street lights, since it was too hard to spot them in the dark.
The toads are both really dumb, and somewhat smart, at the same time. When you see them, they'll just sit there, with their heads up, and you can line up the club right next to them, and they won't even blink.
Sme of them aren't that dumb, and while they won't take off, they sit in the shadow behind the telegraph poles with the street lights on them, where you can't see them, because your eyes adjust for the brightness of the light on the ground in front of the pole.
Anyway, once we got sick of this (and I still didn't have any shoes on, so my feet were getting sore from running around on the road, and in the scrub at the side of the road), we went back, sat out on the back verandah again, and chatted for a while.
We decided to have a bit of an earlier night, and we decided to go in at 2.30am, instead of 4.30am or so like last night.
I went in, and turned on the computer, did a bit of blogging, and kicked off the itunes download again. I left it downloading, and I went to bed, and to sleep.
Heh, I just noticed that the time on this blog draft was 3.08am, must have taken me longer to blog than I thought, but I was making notes on everything that happened since we left at 7pm Friday.
