Got up, got ready, left a bit later this morning.
I got to work without any issue this morning.
I worked all day, continuing on the php stuff I started on yesterday.
The people from the college called me, and asked about getting the internet set up on one of their pcs. "Yeah, it is", "oh yeah, look at that!".
They wanted to get me back to do some work, and said that I might be able to schedule a half a day for them or something. They said they would get back to me.
I went out for lunch, about 3pm, and figured that I would have been better off getting the train, and buying myself a laptop, and working on the train, instead of wasting hours on the road (sometimes literally) every day.
The guy who owns the college called me, wanting to get the network card installed in his pc, I told him I got the card last week, and he said he would drop the machine off tomorrow morning.
I left about 6.30pm, everyone else had left the place.
The fix job with the foil was a waste of time, and the light was back flicking up and down again.
I spent half the trip hunched over with one hand on the light to stop it flickering.
I went to the supermarket on the way home, got some food, and came home.
I had dinner.
I got an sms from my mate, he wanted to know about getting the hoodoo guru tickets sorted out, I tried calling him, no answer, left a message.
My mate called me to ask if I'd got his email, yes, and I replied to it earlier.
He wanted to know about an email someone had sent him. I tried to login to the mail server, but I couldn't get to it, or any of the other servers. Hmm. Perhaps there is a problem.
I tired dialling in, got on, but then couldn't get to anything either.
I called up the colo guy, he didn't answer, I left a message, and said that if I didn't hear from him, I'd go in in about 1/2 hour.
I went back to watching tv.
he called me back about 15 minutes later, we chatted for a bit, worked out there was a problem, and he went in to fix it.
I watched more tv.
He called me back again about 1/2 hour later, and apparently after fiddling around for a bit, he'd found that the fibre (or is it fiber?) transceiver had gone wobbly, and after switching the ethernet port to crossover and back, and it was working again.
While I was on the phone, my landline rang, I ignored it.
I got off the phone, and was about to call back my mate, assuming it was him that rang me, but just as I was dialling, my message service rang my mobile.
It was a message from my mate who broke his wrist (and lost his Mum recently), he was going to be close by, and he'd picked up his car, he had a bit of time to fill in before his brother arrived on the train.
I called him back, and he said he'd be by soon.
I watched a bit more tv, and he turned up a short while later.
I had a look at his car, we smelled a bit oil burning, he'd pushed it a bit on the freeway, and it hadn't been too happy about it. He's got a spare engine, so we might have to swap it out.
We had a look at the train time table, and the train would be getting in in about 20 minutes.
He also thinks he has no fuel, so I grabbed the fuel can out of the shed.
We went for a drive, went down to the service station, and got fuel.
We looked at the engine, noticed a bit of oil sprayed around, and it wouldn't idle properly, but I couldn't see where the oil was coming from, wherever it was, it wasn't coming out anymore.
We went around to the train station, and picked up my mate's brother.
We planned on getting some food, it was about 10 to midnight.
We went to Hungry Jacks, but they were shut, and by the time we got to McDonalds, they were shut too.
We were headed back near my place, when we smelled oil burning really bad, and thought there might be a fire.
We pulled over, popped the bonnet, but there was nothing, just oil burning off something.
We went back to the service station, and got oil, my mate checked the oil level, it was really low, so he topped it up, and then we went back to my place.
I grabbed my torch, and showed him the damage all over my bike, after the last couple of weeks.
I took the headlight off again, I have to find a better fix, more foil, and gaffa tape will do.
My mate and his brother stayed and chatting until about 1.45am, and then they left, to head up to Newcastle.
I went to bed.
